From grand operas and contemporary dance to the open festival landscape of Epidaurus and Peiraios 260, 2026 shows Athens as more outward-looking, more international, and aesthetically bolder than ever before.
The Athens Epidaurus Festival 2026 is particularly significant this year: it is the first year with new artistic director Michail Marmarinos, and the festival is moving even more boldly towards dance/performance, hybrid forms, and international avant-garde productions.
